My name is John. I'm a computer science graduate of USC, and I built Resting Place because of something that happened to my family that I still think about.
When my beloved granddad passed away, we were lost. None of us had ever done this before. We didn't know what questions to ask, what things should cost, or who to trust. A funeral home took advantage of that. We ended up with a service that wasn't right for us, and that cost us more than we could bear.
That experience made me realize how vulnerable families are when they have to make expensive, unfamiliar decisions while grieving. And how little protection they have. The information they need exists. It's just buried in industry language most people have never seen before.
Resting Place is my attempt to fix that. To make sure the next family doesn't have to figure it out the hard way.
Our Standards
Any provider with a history of hidden fees, upcharging, or predatory practices is permanently blacklisted. No exceptions.
